The Zumro story began on January 1st, 1972, when Axel Maarschalk, the company's founder, introduced the concept of hydraulic rescue tools to the market in association with Hurst Performance. Their successful partnership continued for 18 years, during which time new products were launched - such as the spreader, the cutter, the rescue ram - all of which formed the foundation and source of inspiration for what the extrication equipment industry would later produce. Resqtec Zumro—the company's new name since 2005—continued to be an innovator in the extrication market even after the partnership with Hurst Performance ended, launching products and technologies such as the Q1, the smallest combi tool with a 180° rotating head; the NT oval connectable lifting bags; the ProFix Max all in one shoring system with automatic locking and remote control, the Electronic Direct Drive range of battery-powered non-hydraulic extrication equipment, and the 350-bar range of hydraulic extrication equipment optimized for weight, size, and power, to name just a few.
At the same time, in 2005, through a joint development project with Airbus dedicated to their A380 aircraft, Resqtec Zumro also entered the market of aircraft recovery equipment. Today, Resqtec Zumro is a global leader in this field as well, assisting rescue teams around the world in their efforts to recover grounded aircraft as quickly as possible and restore operations at the airports involved, thereby minimizing financial losses, and reducing wait times for affected passengers to the greatest extent possible.
