Although securing community health care services to the population – especially in rural areas and especially to people belonging to vulnerable groups from a medical, economic or social point of view – is the responsibility of the local public administration authorities, the limitations imposed by their ever-insufficient human and financial resources have often led to members of civil society taking over this task, through non-governmental organizations that have solved the problem of these shortages by volunteering and sponsorships.
To provide these services – either prophylactic, medical or social assistance – mobile medical practices were set up on specially equipped various types of vehicles, in this case on a van.
The medical compartment was split in two areas, with a curtain of privacy, resulting in a space for waiting/data recording and another one for screening/ the investigation itself, with an examination bed, doctor's chair, furniture for equipment, supports/brackets for medical devices, sink with fresh water.
The technical compartment was arranged in the back of the van, separated with a wall from the medical compartment. In addition to the electric power generator that ensures the operation of the equipment even in the absence of access to the public electricity network, here are stored the containers for fresh and wastewater, as well as various other equipment necessary for operating the practice.
